Beetle

I'm driving back from Barnes and Nobles. I was bored so I just started driving, and wound up there, so I checked out the computer books. They are all much to expensive for me, so I just looked through a few. On the way out I stopped by the magazine rack. They had one called Linux Format from the UK and it had a dual sided DVD, Debian 3.1 Sarge on one side, Fedora Core 4 on the other side, and a lot of extra software too. I bought it. FLASHBACK: Two days ago I decided the next server will be Debian. The first one was Gentoo, and it was great, very easy to setup and use. I think I messed up Apache along the way though, after a few months of use. So while I love portage, I want to try something else. Debian is supposed to be great, so why not :). The new server, by the way, will be a Dual Pentium II 450mhz on an Intel board. I don't know how much ram yet, or what size hard drive.

Okay, back to driving back from Barnes and Nobles. Coming up to a light, I pull up beside another orange beetle. Inside is a guy and his girlfriend. I glance over at him and he looks at me. The light is green at about that moment and suddenly you can hear the roar of his muffler as he takes off. So two things pop into my mind...one, I refuse to be beat by this guy :-D (guy stuff kicking in) and two, my lane ends soon. So I take off too, fly past him and an SUV dive into the lane. Feeling pretty proud of me and poor little Beetle I drive on. Later he pulls up beside me in a turn lane and asks, "you running like that on a stock motor?" I shout back "yea!" He has this big smile.

So that's the story, and it ranks up there with my top beetle adventure stories. By the way, it does have a certain taste in music...and will voice it's opinions. Beulevard of Broken Dreams it will almost always stall out on when it comes on. Some other song it stalled when it came on the radio. My mom says it's coincidental... Today I'm driving down highway14 into town, N'Sync comes on the radio...being in a good mood I start singing to it...the car stalls and I have to roll into a parking lot, let it sit a second, and then change the station. Bear in mind that I haven't had any problems out of it all week.

Busy Day

I'd say this is less one of those creative works of art that I'm known for (yeah right!) and more just the fact that I feel the need to post it :) So quit grumbling and read!...or don't...I guess....I mean I'm sure Fox News has something interesting read....perhaps not...

Hmm...i'm lazy tonight (and tired) so we do a timetable:

11:00PM Arrive at work to start working on the server from the lutheran church
6:00AM Leave work, go to parent's house, have Life Cereal, Orange Juice, go home, sleep
11:15AM Go to parent's house, eat Hot Dogs, gas up the little Mitsubishi truck (mom drove....the clutch loves that :-/) Depart house with the Mitsubishi and the Ford F150 to a friend's house...she's moving...redneck style...multiple pickup trucks and a car :)

4:30PM Take truck back to parent's house, Grab the beetle and go to work to make sure the shipments came in (2 small ones didn't :( ) Hung out there for 30 minutes
6:00PM Meet dad at his job where I help load firewood onto the F150 + Trailor....minutes later our neighbor shows up with his truck and trailor and we start loading logs in there too. Mind you these are fresh off the tree, not cut into nice neat pieces of firewood....so some are small branches...some are portions of trunk. So after getting all the pieces that could be more or less dumped into the bed without killing yourself, we were left with the trunk pieces. So the two geniouses put a piple on the tailgate of the one trailor and are trying to figure out how to roll this 4ooLB piece of wood up onto the trailor....while they make passing comments about the new Kamatsu backhoe that just has to have the white gravel in the bucket put somewhere....It didn't take them long to decide on walking up to the backhoe and bringing her on down...after that it was short work :) it had this cool front loader attachment that opens and closes so you just grab the trunk and put it in the trailor. So we finished up and drove home...the beetle got to be the follow car with hazard lights on and all :). Back at the house we unload the trucks. (it's amazing how something that took 30 minutes to do and hurt your back immensly can be dumped into one insignifcant sentence :-/) I did recieve great stress relief by picturing the Lutheran Church server as I tossed smaller pieces of wood onto the pile.
10:30 I drag myself away from Comedy Central Presents... and go home to change, then go back to work to work on the Lutheran Server (supposed to be delivered earlier today but never finished) where I am right now...a disc short and outta luck. I left around 2:00AM having accomplished very little.

So that's the story, it's boring, not very creative at all, and generally sucks, but on four hours of sleep after *all* of that....well...I personally wouldn't expect much.

Emotionally, Physically, and Spiritually (it is a church computer you know) worn out,
This is fadumpt signing off,
wishing you working printers, lightningless electrical storms, and a windows free world for all.
Good Night and God Bless

EDIT:
Okay, turns out the weekend of horror didn't end there, so i'll give a quick summary.
So I went home, got on the chatroom a few minutes. I said, thinking out loud, that it would be great if i could set something up to call my house phone. It's an old rotary phone and when it rings you wake up, like i mentioned in an earlier post. Arbscht (sorry no link, look at the blogs links on the side you lazy bum!) said that sysadmins used to do that and it would just take a cronjob and a modem on a linux box....that or I could set up a mechanical robotic system to press buttons on a phone in a programmed order at a specific time using cronjobs, linux, and robotic parts....so yeah...as sexily geeky as the later sounds...the thing with the modem sounds a lot easier to implement and is still geeky enough to be cool :). I downloaded a mac app alarm clock though for now, so I'd be able to get up in 3 hours and go to church (mom called the rotary phone anyway, so i have this computer generated analog alarm going off and the ringing of that phone...fun stuff :)
After church I went home to sleep for 3 hours before I had to go help do a quick pickup truck run to finish the last of the moving for the friend. This was broken up by 4 phone calls.
MOM: Rabbi Goodfriend is going to call you about his computer
RABBI:
BROTHER: hey, [HR at his job] has some computer parts in her trunk that you have to go get now....mom in background: nevermind i'll get them....(turned out to be a keyboard and speakers! uggh)
MOM: don't worry about getting up at 3:00 for Wendy, she'll call you when it's not raining
Then I was able to go to sleep :)

So 6:00PM the phone rings, it's Wendy, I pick her up, we go to mom's and get the truck, then load it at her old house and unload it at the new house (as such things go)
Then I hung out mom's house (parent's house but mom is faster to type)
10:00PM I went home to try skype out, i could hear my mom and a friend but they couldn't hear me, a new mic didn't change that...guess I need a mac mic :( sux0rs
So Then i go to work, figure i can do some adaware scans on the Rabbi's Dell and get it close to finished, maybe "button up" the 2 computers for the medical research place that go in Monday

Then my boss stops by and starts cleaning the workbench and I had to keep taking stuff back from him and out of the trash and stuff and had to work on some other computers there as well and didn't end up leaving until 1:00AM
I have to get up tomorrow...early...finish the 3 computers on the bench, Go to the medical place and help install those two, and have it all done before 2:00PM so i can take my brother to see Dukes of hazard with his friends.
So that's the rest, and this is the official end to a very boring post about a very eventful weekend...I bet if i had an ibook the creativity would be flowing through my fingers!!!
soon....soon....

Please note that the author of this post makes no claims of creative posts after the recieving of said ibook...its just an open aired meaningless claim...go to bed you nutters!
